No wind, No worries!
Many of the people we get here at extreme hotel, in cabarete are very enthusiastic kite boarders. So on a day like today when there is no wind they don’t know what else to do. Today we will talk about some of the many other things cabarete has to offer on a no wind day. Today we sent a group of 20+ people from the hotel to the 27 waterfalls. At every level you go up there is a different pool and the jumps get higher and higher. It’s alot of fun for people of all ages, and provides a beautifull eco tour. It’s a fantastic day that can be either organized through a tour group, or done on your own with a taxi. But even just here at eXtreme hotel we have so much to offer when there is no wind, we have a fully equiped gym with indoor and outdoor crossfit training programs, a half pipe so you can skateboard or rollerblade, which ever you prefer. We also have a fully equiped circus school, yes that’s right eXtreme hotel is one of only a handfull of places in the carribean with a flying trapeze rig and indoor aerial space to train in! Cabarete circus school also known as kaiceitos circus have many knoledgable instructors with many years of circus performing and teaching beetween them. If you love to kite board then i am sure you have surfed before, well when there is no wind there is allways going to be surf. The surf beach is the next beach down from kite beach, you can walk there in 20 minutes or jump on a moto and be there in a flash. And for those in shape, we have world class surfing right out front, which is often access with stand up paddle boards. The stand up paddle boards can be rented here on kite beach from a bunch of places. There is so much to do in cabarete, i have only listed a few things but there are many more unique experiences to be had here at eXtreme hotel, cabarete!

New Years in Cabarete
New Year’s is always a great time in Cabarete. Not only do we have the normal crowds from the Christmas rush, but we also have the Dominican elite who come up from Santo Domingo to bring in the new year. To add to the excitement, the locals are all happy to usher in a new year with new opportunities, and most of all for the kitesurfers, the start of the winter wind season. This year, like all new years in Cabarete, the party was down in Cabarete bay. The eXtreme team all joined together for a big family style dinner, enjoying the traditional Dominican fare of pork and rice, before heading into downtown Cabarete to see the festivities first hand. New players in town like Nikki Beach and the new Blue Cabarete restaurant were also filled, and with a new type of crowd. As the backpackers are moving on from Cabarete, the jet set style are filling the voids. The added benefit is more upscale restaurants and services, and the need from the Dominican government to provide better services, like internet and phone systems that work during the peak rush, as the new high profile visitors demand much more. As the night went on, out came the fireworks and the party continued at the usual haunts like Lax and Pomodoro’s, where the more subdued entered the new year with families and their children. Here at eXtreme we are looking forward to 2011, as we have a great team in place with all our activities. The circus school welcomes Liam of the UK, who is a circus performer and is sure to give us some great stunts to watch. The Gym has Zach and his crossfit training, that is gaining popularity amongst the local expats who enjoy the fast results and increase in fitness levels. The kitesurfing school and Richard are coming right along, proving to be the most popular kitesurfing school on kite beach, Papo and the ju jitzu school are keen to host another competition here after the success of the last tournament, and Corinna and the kite lounge restaurant are getting their pacing, bringing in great meals to the happy customers. We want to wish happy new year to everyone and all the best for 2011 from eXtreme Cabarete!
A Walk on Kitebeach, Cabarete.
Usually we like to talk about the extreme activities available here at eXtreme Hotel Cabarete such as kiteboarding, surfing, circus school with flying trapeze and Mixed Martial Arts and Ju Jitsu training. However, as a beach front hotel with a great location on Kitebeach here in Cabarete, we are also blessed with the beauty of the ocean and a stretch of sandy beach extending miles in either direction from the hotel. Many of guests of eXtreme and other hotels take advantage of the beach all day long enjoying many leisure activities including kitesurfing, beach volleyball, building sandcastles or simply just sunbathing. One favorite activity is to take a walk or a run on the beach in the mornings to start the day. You can amble along enjoying the sound of the ocean waves rolling up on the beach, you can push yourself running to your favorite tunes on your MP3 player, or simply take the time to walk your dog and play a game of fetch. This morning I took a leisurley walk along Kitebeach and brought my camera along with me. I have included several of the photos I took of many interesting things that I saw on my walk. I hope you enjoy them as well, and have the opportunity to check things out for yourself while here on your vacation. Some of the things I saw included: horses running on the beach, crabs scrambling from their hidey-holes to the water, shells, interesting reef formations, sandunes, pretty flowers, coconut palms, really neat looking driftwood and palm-roofed huts to name a few. April in Cabarete.
April in Cabarete is one of he best months to be here. Easter weekend is the most celebrated holiday in the Dominican Republic, with residents from all over the country coming to Cabarete to enjoy the beaches and beach parties and live music featuring many of the best artists from the Dominican Republic and Peurto Rico. The parties begin on Thursday and go right through to Monday, with Friday and Saturday nights being the most celebrated. After Easter until June it is considered to be low season here in Cabarete. There tends to not be as many visitors or vacationers to the area at this time. This is what makes it the perfect time to come to kitebeach on a kiteboarding vacation. There are very few kites out on the water and you have the entire bay to yourself. The best part though, is that the wind is always pumping. There is kiteable wind 6-7 days a week beginning around 11am and continuing until after the sun goes down. For the first few hours, most kiteboarders are out on 10-13m kites and in the afternoon, 7-9m kites. There are even a few days where 5 and 6m kites can be seen out on the water. April through May is the best time to take advantage of perfect wind and no crowds at kitebeach. Relax and enjoy your kitesurfing vacation here at eXtreme hotel where the wind is pumping and you can launch your kite directly on the beach behind the hotel. The steady trade winds are also perfect for learning to kite. Our excellant kite instructors at Cosmic Kite Lounge are ready to assist you in your progression whether your level is advanced, intermediate or beginner.
