Welcome to eXtreme Hotel

Testimonials
Not what I expected (a surfcamp with a lot of young people to socialize with) , but a great place to stay in Cabarete! From what I’ve heard it’s not... read more what it used to be a few years ago (a hippie-place with circus-school and sushi restaurant), and yes, it’s interiour and equipment is a little run down, but it has a lot to offer anyway!
So this is what you get:
Daily morning gym class, afternoon kite class, and the best yoga class I ever attended from Julia (the fun and kindhearted manager) in the evening. A great plus is the beautiful yoga-loft overlooking the beach! There are usually only a few rooms booked, so I had almost a personal trainer the whole week, which I enjoyed a lot!
On top of that, they have delicious, very healthy, vegetarian (almost vegan) food only! Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. They heat the precooked dinner after the yoga class for the whole group to share dinner together. Sadly everything comes in tupper boxes and is not served as you would imagine from a hotel, but the upside to this is that you can always go to the fridge and get your food whenever you want to (feels kind of like at home). For lunch you can eat the leftovers from the previous evening which are still very fresh and I like the idea of not wasting all of this well-made food! There‘s a coffee machine for you to use and fresh coconut water every day :)
I had a beautiful beachfront room that was quiet and somehow not as hot as everyone describes in other reviews. I have used the fan only once a week (beginning of january, very warm the whole day). The only downside to the room was that it wasn’t very well cleaned and the shower takes a long time to turn to warm water (it’s solar powered).
I felt very safe in the hotel on my own as a woman. The staff was very friendly and the managers even became friends after a short time! They took every concern serious and tried their best to fix everything as soon as possible.
They have a lot of beautiful trees and flowers in the garden where fruit grows and chickens walk around freely. The pool was cleaned every day, even though it was only rarely used!
If you‘re looking for a calm, unique residence (that‘s not like all the overly-touristic beachfront apartment-blocks nearby) and if you love a healthy lifestyle or maybe want to get in shape directly at the beach, then this is the place to go!

I booked a yoga and ariels package here in January 2020. The hotel staff were very responsive when I had questions and queries. The hotel, yoga loft, aerials school... read more and restaurant are all owned by different people but they work together to try to create a comprehensive retreat service. It works fairly well. Check in was fairly simple, they gave me a key and a lanyard (that I could keep!) and showed me how everything works. There's a locked gate to the rooms but I felt very safe the entire time. I had a trapeze view room. My room was very basic, the best part about it was the giant water cooler. Seeing as this is an eco-friendly, on occasion things don't work as smoothly such as when I was there we lost water a few times. I have heard people say the rooms are very noisy, but if it's windy or rainy, it's almost impossible for the hotel to control. I was not near the road so I did not experience any road noise. I really enjoyed the breakfast they offered in the mornings, probably my best meal of the day. The grounds were very nice, I never went into the pool (why would you when the beach is right there!) but it looked pretty inviting. This is not really a hotel meant for relaxation, it's more of a base for people while they are being active (kite surfing,... I booked a yoga and ariels package here in January 2020. Very visible and interested in how your stay is going. You can't really beat the location, it's an ocean front hotel that is reasonably priced - just don't expect luxury. More

Cabarete – A Runner’s Dream
Running in Cabarete is magical. The trick is to wake up before the heat sets in – which is not that early, only 6:15 or so. I don’t think there exists a more ideal temperature to run in. Warm enough that you don’t have to start with a long sleeve on but also hot and […]
