Happy Hour in Cabarete.
The guests and staff here at eXtreme Hotel tend to be very social. After a great day of kitesurfing we like to get together and head into Cabarete for dinner around 8pm. After dinner for those who would like to go out for the evening it’s time to get your drink on and enjoy Happy Hour before dancing and more drinking. If you know the circuit, there is almost always somewhere you can go to get good valued drinks that will help you enjoy the Cabarete nightlife even more.
One of the first places people will go to is Bozo’s liquer store following dinner. There you ca buy three Brahma grandes for 100 pesos. Sit outside at the tables or get a game of flip cup or beer pong going. There is also the famous ring-on-a-string game that is so addictive.
The main strip of bars are located right on Bozo Beach in Cabarete Bay with tables, chairs and bean bags available for lounging and drinking right on the sand where you can socialize or simply listen to the sound of the waves.
Between 3-7pm, Jose O’Shay’s Irish pub has all you can drink beer for 250 pesos.
Voy Voy offers 200 peso pitchers of their amazing Mojitos between 7-11pm. This is a great way to get warmed up prior to Karaoke on Monday nights.
Between 11pm-12am you have a couple of different options. You can go to Onnos where they offer five different kinds of pitchers for between 200-300 pesos. Your other choice is to go to Kahuna for their power hour where it’s 3 for 1 cuba and santo libres for 100 pesos.
The bar Lax has several great specials all night long. From 10-11pm you can get 50 peso cuba and santo libres. From 11pm-12am are the shot specials. Your choices are several gringas or cocolocos for 100 pesos. 12pm-1am offers you banana daiquiries for 200 pesos or the ever dangerous chilled vodka/redbull pitchers. This will give you six large cupfulls for 300 pesos. Great for sharing!
If you’ve ever read an article in a kiteboarding magazine regarding the Cabarete nightlife, then you’ve surely heard of the infamous Blue Bar. It’s a little hole-in-the-wall bar that’s painted blue. Don’t let it’s appearance fool you, the strongest drinks in town are here as well as the least expensive beers. Presidente is the beer of choice and a pequena (small) is 60 pesos. The grande (large) is 80 pesos. Their famous cuba and santo libres are 70 pesos, come in a large cup and are 95% rum with a splash of Coke or Sprite for flavour. At Blue Bar, it’s happy hour all night long!
Once you’ve had a few drinks and are feeling the music, most of the bars have a dance floor where you can dance the night away and meet new people. Three of the most popular places to go to dance are Lax, Bambu and Onnos. Most bars close at 3am.
If you’re still feeling the need to continue dancing and drinking, the Cabarete Casino on Friday and Saturday nights has a nightclub that remains open until sunrise. There is a 100 pesos entrance fee.
