Kite Spots in Cabarete

Here’s a summary of the kitesurfing spots in Cabarete:

Kitebeach, Cabarete

This is the place where is all began. And it’s right at eXtreme Hotels doorstep!  Typically the beginners are close to shore. The first 100 meters is flat water with some chop, then it’s the epic kite beach reef. This is the perfect location to learn, as there is a drop at the entrance to the beach, no shore break, and a protective reef.

Bozo Beach, Cabarete Bay

This is the main Cabarete bay, shared with windsufers and sailors.  The wind can get bit gusty and there is usually a lot of chop, and a wicked shore break that can be really dangerous. Further out on the reef the wind is steady and consistent, but it’s a long way from shore and there is no rescue service, so be sure to kite with a partner. 

La Boca, de Yasica

La Boca means the rivermouth, and it’s where the river meets the sea. It’s 6 Km East of Cabarete, through Camino del Sol.  It is a popular place to start downwinders, after a good session on the super flat water conditions.  

Kite and Yoga Retreat

Our Kite Lounge is a partnership of our local kite school GoKite and eXtreme hotel. Our Kite Camp is a week of intensive kite boarding program. The kiting program is geared towards your skill level – whether you’re a total beginner, getting comfortable with the sport or a well tested kiter looking to hone your skills in the home of world champions, the Kite Lounge provides top level of service, high quality equipment and over eight years of experience on Kite Beach. The Kite Lounge, like all of our partners, supports and empowers local Dominicans to train to be instructors, with the majority of the staff being Dominican born and bread. Support sustainable tourism, get fit and have an amazing adventure in the knowledgeable hands of the Kite Lounge crew.
