The Hotel

Extreme is a 22 room boutique hotel in the center of all the action. This is where everyone chooses to kite and surf from, when given the choice. We have been host to numerous action sports movies, most of the big name pros, multiple international competitions, countless photo shoots, many of the best parties and all of the fun.

Our rooms are big, airy and private. They are geared towards the action sports enthusiast, and are right on the beach. Each one has it’s own bathroom and balcony. The wind blows through the rooms and you go to sleep with the sound of the ocean waves gently falling against the beach. A/C is available as a upcharge, but not necessary.

This is not a 4 star hotel. We describe the hotel’s condition as ’surfer chic’. It is clean and safe bohemian living, surrounded by million dollar condos.  There are no little bars of soap in your room, and you won’t find flowers waiting for your arrival. We will however buy you a drink at the bar.

At Extreme we strive to reduce our impact on the  environment.  As such, we are working towards becoming a ‘green hotel’.  We have back up power on the hallway lights, on the internet connections and the bar.  We are proud to also boast solar hot water (enough for 2 showers per room).   We hang dry all our laundry and try in general to reduce our consumption.   All the back up batter banks are fed by a wind turbine and solar panels to ensure that our vitals are always up.  The rest of the hotel is on “24 hour” street power, which can mean stops in service, but it’s usually temporary.  This is after all the Caribbean, and to ensure comfort happy hour is in effect whenever the street power is down.

The primary reason people love to stay with us is the fun friendly vibe we offer. Our policy is no man left behind when it comes to going out at night, and you’ll quickly make friends. Our instructors double as your guides to all the fun in town. It is refreshing relief for those who are traveling alone, or for anyone who wants instant submersion into the surfer ’scene’. We’ll take you to the cool bars, the fun parties, the secret spots and help you find whatever you are after.

We are also pleased to to be home to Cabarete’s Mi Gym.  Cabarete’s premier gym and training facility,  with morning yoga classes, spin classes, personal trainers and more.  For more info on the gym and its class schedule take a look at the gym page.

We have the Caribbean’s only underground half pipe, 6 feet under, which doubles as the training pit for Mixed Martial Arts Champion Papo.  Private training and classes are available to all.

Out front is the surf break, 6 feet over. Our bar is actually a distillery, and happy hour is the best deal on the island. The pool is inviting and refreshing. The restaurant offers tapas and energy food between kiting sessions. The Distillery provides front row seats to watching all the action on kite beach, or in the ramp. You can sun yourself on our beach loungers while watching the sea filled brightly colored kites. Contact Us
