Cabarete Restaurant Guide

Cabarete Restaurant Guide

Cabarete offers a wide variety of international cuisine, prepared in a variety of settings. There is something for every budget and taste.

Here is a list of some of our favourites: Check out our restaurant map to get your bearings straight.

Chichigua Restaurant: Located right on Kite Beach at eXtreme hotel, you can’t go wrong with this place. They dish up undeniably nutritious and delicious Caribbean home cooking everyday. Whether you’re fueling up for an afternoon of kiting or an evening or dancing, this place has great vibes and an awesome staff. Many of our guests eat here for just about every meal. Expect to pay around 300 to 400RD for a meal.

La Parilla de Luis Chicken: Another cheap option, BBQ chicken with your choice of yucca, fries, salad, rice & beans or tostones (fried plantain), and a home-made marinade that is fantastic. You can get a 1/4 chicken meal for 75RD or a whole chicken for 250RD. It is located just off the main road across from Ocean Dream. This is a huge staff favourite, we often bring guests to eat there.

Claro: Hands down the best breakfast in town, and a fantastic lunch option as well. The weekly specials are amazing. Try the chocolate Zucchini cake! They have healthy veggie, vegan, and meat dishes. Bottomless coffee is always appreciated. Located a block past the Janets grocery store, prices range between 250RD-350RD.

Gordito’s: Cheap, healthy, fresh and tasty. This Tex-Mex restaurant is super casual and the food is served quickly. From amazing fish tacos, to carnita burritos and healthy Mexican bowls, this place is excellent for people who are on a budget and want to stay trim. Located in Ocean Dream Plaza, you can expect to pay between 120RD- 250RD for a great meal.

Yamazoto’s: Authentic sushi prepared by a Japanese chef. This sushi restaurant also has great Thai dishes. Try the pad-Thai, papaya salad, or spring rolls – all very taste. My personal favorite sushi rolls are the Volcano, Orange, and the Caribe roll. Located before downtown Cabarete in the Ocean Dream Plaza next to Gordito’s. A meal can easily cost 500RD or more/person.

Pomodoro’s: This Italian restaurant is fantastic. The pizza is definitely what you have to eat! Decent wine selection, fantastic gelato for desert and wonderful live Spanish guitar on the weekends. Located on the main cobble stone walkway on the Cabarete beach. This is a great date-night restaurant. Expect to pay 500-1000RD per/person.

LAX: The ‘red place’ where the food is OK and drinks take time, but the vibe is GREAT! This is the ‘cool place’ that everyone hangs out at when in town. The pizzas are good, and the Thai night is worth visiting. We generally like to go at night for a drink before heading out dancing. Ask for the specials on drinks. $500RD + / person, located on the beach next to Pomodoro’s.

Casa Mami: Located at the far end of town, Casa Mami is a local dominican hangout for great seafood and homemade dishes. Order of the 175 menu and be kind to your pocket book, or taste their fresh local seafood on their daily specials menu. This place is very casual and they always serve large Presidentes tall icy steins. Expect to spend between 200 and 300RD.

Cabarete Coffee Company: A short moto ride from eXtreme hotel sits the cute and cheerful Cabarete Coffee company. Their coffee is local, shade grown, and organically produced. They offer a yummy selection of healthy sandwiches and breakfast dishes, as well as some yummy treats for dessert. We recommend the chocolate brownies! Coffees range from 70 – 150RD. Food is around 150 – 300RD. Portions tend to be smaller but the presentation and quality is great!

La Bodega: Located across the street from La Parilla de Luis, this wine and tapas bar has a wonderful Spanish atmosphere. With a nice variety of wines and lovely light meals. I love bringing guests here who are looking for good conversation, well presented food and fantastic flavours. Expect to pay 350RD-550RD per person.

Bliss: Right next to La Bodega at the entrance to Callehon is this little gem. French inspired and very well presented, you’ll think you’re in the south of France sipping wine beside their pool. This is a high end place to be pampered. The whole menu is great. $1000 RD/person.

Cabaha: One of my favorite places! Located on the cobble stone walk way that leads to the Cabarete main beach. This Euro style tapas restaurant often has live music, great wine and delicious tapas. I recommend the beef or turkey skewers, the eggplant dip, ceviche and veggie platter (ask to see if they can grill it). Not too big, so the atmosphere is private but still great for people watching. Expect to pay 500RD-1000RD per person.

Blue Moon Retreat: A great meal and a fun time. Eat with your hands, Caribbean Indian, all you can eat and fantastic views. Located in the mountains, it’s definitely worth the ride. Talk to Genevieve to book in advance, necessary to have at least eight people or more. On the road to Moca, just past Los Brasos. $800/person

Castle Club: A dream come true! This amazing rustic mansion/castle is sitting on the top of mountain overlooking the rolling hills of the Cabrera area.  The location is to die for as is the organic four course meal you’ll be dining on. The hosts of this private restaurant will only be hosting your group and therefore you need at least ten people to book. If you want to feel like royalty for an evening, budget to spend an extra $10US for roundtrip taxi ride, plus $40-$50 US for the meal.
