25+ knot winds in Cabarete!

It looks like the windy season is upon us!  This week we enjoyed several back to back days of kitesurfing here in Cabarete, with each day more windy than the day before, culminating in +25 knot winds.  Everyone was out on their smallest kites ranging from 5-8m.  Our kite school, Cosmic Kites was busy making new kiters and renting out gear.  Many guests of eXtreme Hotel took advantage of the opportunity to try out the new F-One Bandit III’s that Cosmic Kites rents out.  The guests staying at  the hotel on their kiteboarding vacation were well rewarded by superior conditions to learn in or improve their skills.  Several guests were stoked about landed their first backrolls!

The sun was shining without a cloud in the sky and temperatures were around 28-29oC (84oF).  The wind direction was a perfect side onshore, with the waves on the reef breaking at about four feet high (1.3m) and lots of fun to play on.  The lounge chairs on kitebeach were a great location to rest in between kite sessions, work on your tan or just watch all the action.  It was beautiful watching all the multi-coloured kites in the air and seeing some of the amazing tricks and big airs being executed out on the water.
